We left our lovely little villa for the big city of Rome. The kids and I are on our own again, hopefully we will survive! I am really nervous about driving into Rome in my big van, but I have a GPS that works well and a back up plan for parking (hopefully I won't have to use it as it would involve a walk with the luggage!)
We did really well leaving the villa, up,packed and out by 9:15! I think that might be a record as the day before the van was completely empty... we drove straight to Rome, and got there around lunch. I found a place to park, metered, but free on sundays which was the full day I needed, so it worked out to be cheap, only 8€ for the 2 nights, I call that a win! Driving into Rome was no problem, there wasnt even slot of traffic on Saturday. We walked down to get a bite of lunch before meeting the lady for the keys to our apartment. We are right next to the colosseum! It couldn't be a better location.
After settling in to the apartment we decided to take a walk and see some sights. We had a lot on our list to see in Rome, so we needed to start!
The trevi fountain, the kids all through a penny in and made a wish.
The Spanish steps, they lost definitely do not want to walk up them.
We found a flower garden for B.
I am ashamed to say it, but we were so tired of pizza and pasta that for dinner tonight we opted for Hard Rock Cafe, thenkids each had a burger and I had a steak. Sometimes you need a taste of home.
We had such a busy and full day, we walked from the colosseum to the trevi fountain, the Spanish steps, and up to the hard rock. We decided to get on the hop on hop off bus to take it home. I bought a 24 hour ticket for it, so we can use it the next day too. Honestly that is the best value!
Walking home from the bus stop past the colosseum with our balloons. It was a pretty good day. It was hot and crowded but the kids did an amazing job overall. Tomorrow will be another big full day in Rome.
